Greg Lynn

Biographie

Greg Lynn, geboren 1964 in Ohio, USA, studiert Architektur und Philosophie an der Miami University of Ohio und Architektur an der Princeton University. 1987 arbeitet er bei Antoine Predock Architect, von 1990-94 im Büro von Peter Eisenmann. 1994 macht er sich mit dem Büro „Greg Lynn FORM“ in Hoboken, New Jersey, selbständig, 1998 zieht das Büro nach Venice, Kalifornien. Projekte und Publikationen von Greg Lynn tragen wesentlich dazu bei, dass die Arbeit mit dem Computer nicht nur als Rationalisierungshilfe, sondern als noch lange nicht ausgeschöpftes Potential für den eigentlichen Entwurfsprozess begriffen wird. Von 1999-2002 hat er eine Professur für Raumplanung und Forschung an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule ETH Zürich inne, seit 2002 ist er ordentlicher Professor an der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien sowie Gastdozent an der Graduate School of Architecture der Yale University, New Haven, und der Graduate School of Architecture der University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Heute gilt Greg Lynn als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der durch ihre biomorphe Formensprache gekennzeicheten so genannten „Blob-Architektur“.
