Architecture / Space Planning

Working together with our customers, we want to give every office space a unique character. The right arrangement of objects, stimulating colours and materials, atmospheric conditions, lighting, acoustics and additional factors form the basis of an optimal interior.

We offer this service in the form of consultation and planning. In short: we design and outfit offices, call centres, conference rooms, reception areas, airports, museums, car dealerships, banks and much more.

Interior designers, furnishings planners and graphic artists carry out these tasks.

Finance and Controlling

Finance & Controlling is responsible for planning, guiding and carefully controlling the company's financial resources. To do this well, it must understand the tasks, methods and needs of its in‑house clients—the Vitra companies, both domestic and foreign, as well as the various departments.

We respond to the needs and concerns of the Country Managers and Division Heads with knowledge and competence. We help to ensure that internal processes are smooth and efficient. Information Technology

Logistics and Purchasing

Just-in-time manufacturing, processing and delivery at Vitra and our international subsidiaries is planned and coordinated in the area of Logistics & Purchasing. Due to the extremely wide variety of product versions that Vitra offers to its customers, a complex logistics system is necessary to ensure the timely production and delivery of purchase orders. Employees in this field require technical knowledge, negotiating skills and the ability to find creative solutions to problems.

Graduates in business administration, procurement specialists and technically-minded persons with good IT skills are placed in these positions. Good foreign language skills are helpful in communicating across borders.

Marketing and Communication

Our Marketing & Communication teams define and implement strategies and concepts for Vitra products. In addition, they are responsible for the overall presentation of the corporation and its global branding. As a service team, we provide assistance to the international operations of Vitra companies, as well as to our business partners, specialized dealers and end customers.

This department comprises the following areas:

  • Communications (traditional communications including Marketing Services and Country Support, 3-D Communications, Digital Communications, PR and Branding)
  • Product Management (Seating, Home and Systems)
  • Training (Product training for international distributors and specialized dealers)

Individuals who enjoy creative work, who understand the Vitra philosophy and are able to apply it within the context of our various target groups will find a wide variety of interesting tasks. Important in this area are professionalism and qualified training in the areas of product marketing, advertising, graphic design, interior architecture, new media or public relations.

Production

We assemble prefabricated components into a complete product at small autonomous manufacturing islands. The individual components are produced according to our drawings and specifications at locations across Europe, and then delivered to our production facilities in Weil am Rhein. In many cases, the manufacturing group discusses and develops the required assembly tools for a specific project.

The planning and control of production capacities and the optimization of assembly processes are demanding tasks. The production workplaces at Vitra are ergonomically designed and equipped, and employees are continually involved in the improvement of production methods.

Professionals who have completed a trade/technical qualification, or persons with in-depth vocational experience at a technical level are deployed here. Experience in the assembly of sub-assemblies is also welcome.

Sales

A person who is capable of quickly assessing customer needs and convincingly offering solutions, is a good candidate for our Sales team. The design culture of the Vitra company provides access to sophisticated, discerning customers, and it is an enjoyable task to convince them of the extraordinary quality of the Vitra collection in person.

After completing an extensive induction programme, our employees will already be assigned their personal sales area or their product range; they will maintain contact with existing and new customers at their respective locations and will advise architects and specialised dealers on all matters relating to office design with Vitra products.

Sales Support

Our office sales staff provides support to specialized dealers as well as our international subsidiaries in the processing of orders. We work closely with the marketing team of each country. Each person on our staff covers one or more countries or a region, assuming responsibility for the order, scheduling coordination, delivery and product transport, as well as invoicing. We use our SAP R/3 applications to manage this process.

During their work, our employees will acquire extensive and detailed knowledge about Vitra products. They are responsible for coordinating all aspects of order processing directly with our customers, with our internal production staff and administrative personnel. Close cooperation with many different partners and new daily tasks make this area of activity especially interesting.

A business background and, depending on the particular job area, familiarity with shipping/logistics, an enjoyment of working with people, and the ability to quickly comprehend a situation are good prerequisites for working in office sales. For tasks involving international markets, excellent language skills are required; specialized training in export marketing would be ideal.

Technology/ Development

Product Development

In collaboration with internationally renowned designers, we develop new products from the initial concept to the manufactured product. The development of every Vitra product is an intensive process that ensures the fulfilment of our high standards regarding quality, ergonomics, ecology, economy and aesthetics.

Project Engineering

This team is responsible for implementing specific customer requirements in connection with our products. We oversee every step in this process: construction, price calculation, samples and the logistics/processing of customer orders.
