SANAA
Biography:
Kazuyo Sejima, born in the Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, in 1956. Studied Architecture at the Japan Women’s University. She subsequently worked at Toyo Ito & Associates, before establishing an architecture bureau, Kazuyo Sejima & Associates, in 1987, and another one, SANAA, with Ryue Nishizawa, in 1995. She has been a lecturer at the University of Keio since 2001.
Ryue Nishizawa, born in the Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, in 1966. Studied Architecture at the Yokohama National University. He subsequently worked at Kazuyo Sejima & Associates and in 1995 established an architecture bureau, SANAA, with Kazuyo Sejima. In 1997, he established the Office of Ryue Nishizawa and has been teaching at the Yokohama National University since 2001.
In 2010, SANAA received the Hyatt Foundation's Pritzker Architecture Prize.
