.03 High

Maarten Van Severen, 2011

.03 High facilitates dynamic work at a stand-up table. The sleek, height-adjustable seat made of polyurethane foam has integrated metal springs that make it surprisingly comfortable to sit on, while an angled support provides a footrest. The chair does not have any armrests, making it suitable for sitting in different sideways positions.

  • Maarten Van Severen 1956–2005, Belgium

The architect and designer Maarten Van Severen began designing furniture in the mid-1980s, initially also producing his designs at his workshop in Geneva. Simplicity and comfort typify his designs. He has worked with Vitra since 1995; a collaboration out of which the Van Severen Collection was borne. .03 High was created in accordance with Maarten Van Severen’s principle of elementary design. The design was realised by Fabian Schwärzler, a Swiss designer who worked as Van Severen’s assistant from 2003 to 2005.
