HAL
Jasper Morrison, 2010
With HAL, Jasper Morrison has created a reinterpretation of the multifunctional shell chair and a varied chair range with a distinctly contemporary appearance. The shape of HAL‘s shell ensures plenty of freedom of movement and the slightly flexible plastic makes many different sitting positions possible – even sideways and astride the chair. Because of this, HAL facilitates dynamic, ergonomic seating. The selection of bases, shell colours and fabric covers opens up a wide range of choices. HAL can be used in all kinds of environments – in the office, as well as in public spaces and in the home. Combining the chair with the matching HAL Table, which was developed at the same time, is also an option.

Robust materials
At the Vitra Test Centre, all Vitra products are subjected to rigorous testing that simulates 15 years of use. All of HAL’s surfaces and its individual parts are especially robust; its bases and shells, which have no places where dirt can collect, are easy to clean. The chair bears the GREENGUARD environmental label, which benefits HAL with regard to the LEED building certification. Its materials can be separated by type for recycling.

Varied chair range
The HAL shell can be combined with more than ten different bases. The large chair range is available in many colours and offers an array of combination possibilities that meet all kinds of different needs – e.g. HAL with a powder-coated base in crème or basic dark is suitable for outdoor use.
Matching table: HAL Table
HAL Table was designed by Jasper Morrison to match HAL. The round or square tabletops are available in white, pastel grey and black. The solid core material is extremely robust. With the stainless steel base, HAL Table is suitable for outdoor use, and with the chrome base, the table matches the HAL chairs with chromed bases – which have been especially designed for office areas. HAL Table is stackable.
