Ottobock
Austin, USA
This company, which operates in the areas of prosthetics, orthotics and mobility products, relocated its U.S. headquarters from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Austin, Texas. The move was largely motivated by the aim to boost its competitive position and attract a greater share of the best talents in the booming university town of Austin. For the same reason, a great deal of attention was given to the design and outfitting of the new offices.
Joint workshops revealed that a transition from office cubicles to an open-plan layout was in the best interests of the customer. The resulting office environment is organised on the basis of daily work processes around a central social hub consisting of a reception area, 'market place' and showroom.
