CONTENT GUIDELINES

for News Articles

All news articles are displayed at www.vitra.com/news. News articles communicate information which is relevant for a limited period of time and will become outdated, in contrast to magazine articles, which communicate content which remains relevant indefinitely. Often, news articles are quite brief and are intended to redirect the visitor quickly to a separate landing page or product page with more complete information (see example 1 below).

Examples of news article subjects include:

  • Upcoming fairs or exhibitions (Save the Date)
  • New installations in the Vitrahaus
  • New product campaigns
  • New products (product launch)
  • Upcoming Events (e.g. Vitra Campus Nights)

To submit a news article, please complete the following checklist before you send us a briefing.

Minimum Requirements

Example page #1 - a simple news article that leads to a landing page

Checklist:

  • Title in German and English: ideally 35 letters or less
  • Subtitle in German and English: for events, the date(s)
  • Key Visual: an image in jpeg format, horizontal orientation, minimum width of 1500 pixels
  • Metadata for all images/ videos1
  • Body text in German and English: please translate all supplemental text as well (i.e. “Further information here…”)
  • Briefing: see "Submitting Content" below.
1 Please see Guidelines for Visual Media in Censhare.

Optional Extras

If additional content is available, we can make a more comprehensive news article, like example page #2.

Checklist:

  • Links in text1: please highlight where in the text the link(s) should be placed and specify the target URLs or pages (i.e. Designer Page, Product Page, etc.).
  • Text translations in other languages: ES, FR, IT, NL, US, JP
  • Video: mpeg-4 format, horizontal orientation, 1920 x 1080 pixels. The video can also be used in place of a static key visual.
  • Additional images: jpeg format, preferably in horizontal orientation. Our ability to use vertical images is limited by the website layout but in some cases, we can integrate vertical images into a news article.2
  • Metadata for all images/ videos3
  • Links to PDFs or email addresses (contact): please supply the PDFs or contact email addresses.
1 Ideally, no page on vitra.com should be a dead end – we always want to direct the visitor to further relevant pages, preferably on the vitra website or when appropriate, to external websites.
2 Please see Possible Image Layouts.
3 Please see Guidelines for Visual Media in Censhare.

Submitting Content

To create or update a webpage on vitra.com, we'll need the content and a briefing with a little bit of information from you.

First, please assemble all of the content in a folder in Censhare.

Here's how:

  • If there is a relevant asset in Censhare to which you would like to attach the folder, find the asset in Censhare.

If you do not know of a relevant asset in Censhare, enter ID "1781933" into the search field. This will take you to the folder "Content Submissions."

  • Select and right click on the asset under which you'd like to create the new content folder: New asset > New child asset > Group, like this:

  • In the resulting pop-up you only need to enter a relevant name, like "Content - News Article XYZ", and then click OK. The new folder is created.

  • Drag and drop all images, PDFs, or text documents into this folder with the "Assignment" relation. Don't forget to enter the metadata for the images and PDFs if you haven't already done so.1

  • Select the content folder you have just created and copy the ID number from the "Info" panel at the right. If you don't see the info panel, go to Window > Show component > Info in the menu bar at the top of the Censhare window.

You're now ready to submit a briefing to us! Please include the Censhare ID number of the content folder, your name (or the name of a contact person), and the desired publication date in the briefing.
