The Village - EuroShop 2017

Ansorg, Vitra and Vizona have jointly presented “The Village“ at the retail trade fair in Dusseldorf from 5 to 9 March 2017.

People are changing the way they live, work and shop – and this is particularly noticeable in the current development of cities and shopping zones. The classic product display is evolving into a multi-faceted shopping experience, in which digital elements play a growing role. However, it is not enough to simply incorporate in-store digital technology. Digitisation at the point of sale only achieves its goals by withdrawing to the background, keeping the focus on the customer experience and, of course, by increasing store productivity. In the face of online competitors, the brick-and-mortar concept must also offer added value: excellent service, expert assistance, a multi-sensory environment and – above all – human interaction. At EuroShop, Ansorg, Vitra and Vizona are showcasing a concept that meets today’s consumer expectations under the title “The Village“.



“The Village“ invites visitors to shop

“The Village“ encompasses a plaza-like setting, in which customers can linger and relax, and five stores offering diverse shopping experiences: a fashion store, a cosmetics shop, a consumer electronics store, a car showroom and a grocery store. A fictitious brand was created for each of these retail worlds, along with individual products and a history that invites customers on a journey. Each store is centred round a new Vitra product, and Ansorg has developed different lighting concepts tailored to each world.

The various shops also address the current challenges facing retailers – one concept is extremely flexible and designed to enable quick reconfiguration, another appeals to all five senses, the next provides services that merge the real and virtual worlds. Each of the stores at the stand strives to attract customers with its products and ambience – just like actual competitors in today’s retail market. “The Village“ at the EuroShop fair was developed by Vitra, Ansorg and Vizona in collaboration with Finnish interior designer Joanna Laajisto.

3. Rituals Flagship Store, Flingerstraße 34
Dusseldorf is home to one of Rituals 870 stores worldwide. Visitors can experience the brand's home, body and cosmetics range in approx. 300 m² of retail space.

4. Anson's, Schadowstraße 11
A men's fashion specialist that blends culture with a shopping experience. Metal elements and shelf units supported by chains, along with walls with a concrete or brick-effect rendering convey a raw industrial look.

5. Boss Orange MEN, Schadowstr. 11
Boss Orange Men is an urban casual range that embodies a carefree attitude to life. The low-key collections are displayed in a shop-in-shop concept that targets men looking to create their own personal style.

6. Talbot Runhof, Heinrich-Heine-Allee 38
The interior of the new store opened by designer duo Talbot Runhof exudes femininity: fabric-covered screens, imposing chandeliers, felt wall panels - enveloped in a colour scheme of white, light grey and fuchsia.

7. Birkenstock, Wallstraße. 29
The success of Birkenstock is rooted in its commitment to the art of making orthopedically inspired shoes.

8. Kaviar Gauche, Königsallee 27
High ceilings, champagne-coloured walls, tinted glass and changing rooms with 4m curtains: these are the hallmarks of the Berlin brand's new bridal concept store in Dusseldorf.

9. Chanel Flagship-Store, Königsallee 40
Matt gold, white stone, glossy glass or varnished surfaces provide a stark contrast to details such as hand-painted murals or tweed-upholstered chairs.

10. Karl Lagerfeld, Königsalle 60A
The 182 m² two-storey concept store presents Karl Lagerfeld's women's collection and accessory range. The interior is characterised by a sober black and white aesthetic and silhouettes of the designer adorn the walls.

11. Hackett London, Königsaallee 60d
The 190 m² two-storey retail concept is characterised by natural wood flooring, elegant green tones and coffered panels.

12. Autohaus Moll Flagship Store, Berliner Allee 51
The dealership has been family-owned for three generations. The bright and modern flagship store groups ten brands under one roof.

13. Temma, Nordstr. 41 (not on map)
Temma, in south Dusseldorf, is the address for fans of organic products. A range of 7,000 items are on sale in 800 m² of retail space.

14. O2, Friedrichstraße 129-133 (not on map)
The telecommunications company is one of the major industry players in Europe. Smartphones, accessories and contract rates are promoted over a floor space of 85 m².

15. Lufthansa world shop, Flughafen Düsseldorf (not on map)
The Lufthansa WorldShop in Dusseldorf offers a wide range of suitcases, bags and backpacks for every occasion, travel accessories with the Lufthansa logo, as well as digital cameras and jewellery.

exp37 represents a unique cross-channel, brand-shaping shopping experience in which online and offline shopping form an indissociable whole.

17. McLaren Flagship Store Düsseldorf, Willstätterstraße 45 (not on map)
This showroom has been designed as the first independent McLaren Flagship store in the brand's corporate design. The architecture and high-performance sports cars both demonstrate outstanding quality, in their details and choice of materials alike.
