Jongerius Vessels
Hella Jongerius, 1997
The two vessels RedWhiteVase and BigWhitePot can certainly be described as modern classics. Both are the result of Hella Jongerius' extensive study of historic vessels: the Dutch designer drew inspiration from medieval pottery, casting the RedWhiteVase and the BigWhitePot from the moulds of restored vases and pots. The rough casting seams and traditional potter's thumbprint evoke the essence of antique craftsmanship, while their bold, solid forms speak to modern industrial production.
Produced by Studio ZAND, the RedWhiteVase and BigWhitePot are marketed and distributed by Vitra.
