The VitraHaus – Vitra’s flagship store in Weil am Rhein – as well as the Vitra Design Museum Shop will be opening again to visitors as of Tuesday, 1 December, from 12 to 5pm daily. The Vitra Design Museum, Vitra Schaudepot and Depot Deli remain closed at the current time. The VitraHaus Café offers a winter take-away service at the Airstream Kiosk in front of the VitraHaus.The safety and health of both visitors and employees will continue to be of utmost priority with the reopening. Comprehensive safety and hygiene concepts have been implemented in accordance with governmental regulations and in consultation with a medical task force. From 1 December 2020, the first floor of the VitraHaus will be transformed into an atmospheric ‘Winter Village’. Visitors are invited to discover a selection of special gift ideas from Vitra and third-party producers, which are only available during this limited period. Designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, the Schaudepot opened in 2016. It hosts part of the collection of the Vitra Design Museum, which with 7000 pieces of furniture, over 1000 lighting objects, and numerous archives, as well as the estates of several famous designers, ranks among the most important holdings of furniture design in the world. The permanent exhibition presents over 400 key pieces of modern furniture design from 1800 to the present.Although the main building of the Vitra Design Museum designed by Frank Gehry, which opened in 1989, was originally conceived as a venue for the collection, it is used today for the presentation of major temporary exhibitions. Up until now, the museum collection has never been on permanent display. In the foyer of the Vitra Schaudepot, the Schaudepot Shop will present a carefully selected assortment of design products, including many with a connection to the objects in the Schaudepot and the collection of the Vitra Design Museum. In addition, a large variety of publications and magazines on design and architecture themes will be offered. The Depot Deli serves a variety of internationally inspired delicacies as well as take-away options suited for a quick snack on the go. Additionally, the Deli serves brunch with regional specialities every Sunday between 9 AM and 2 PM.For questions, you can reach the Depot Deli daily from 9 AM to 6 PM.
