Vitra in Aspen: Akris Opens New Summer Installation

June - September 2018 (Aspen, CO)

Swiss fashion brand Akris has officially opened its doors to a new seasonal outpost in Aspen, Colorado. Located directly next to the Aspen Art Museum, the 1,380 square-foot space features the Alexander Girard-inspired Spring/Summer 2018 Collection alongside selected Vitra pieces.

Akris’ newly opened pop-up boutique in Aspen pays homage to the wide-ranging oeuvre of Alexander Girard, one of the leading figures of postwar American design: Girard’s vibrant works in the fields of textile design and graphic arts is what inspired Akris’ creative director Albert Kriemler in his creation of the pre-fall collection. Serving as a backdrop for the latest Akris ready-to-wear styles are various Vitra Accessories, including Girard Pillows, the iconic Wooden Dolls – which he originally designed for his own home in Santa Fe – and decorative Metal Wall Reliefs, as well as pieces from the Vitra Home Collection such as Antonio Citterio’s recently introduced Grand Sofà, the Fauteuil de Salon by Jean Prouvé and Kast by Maarten Van Severen. In combination with an Akris doll print scarf, two of the Wooden Dolls are also available for purchase as a special Collector’s Set both at the Aspen pop-up and at Vitra’s North American flagship store in New York.
