House of Wine

Znojmo, Czech Republic

The nineteenth century brewery and adjoining technical hangar from the 1970s are two vastly different buildings and perfectly reflect the town's eventful history. Following renovation, a wine bar with tasting area now extends across the interiors of both buildings. Integrated volumes serve as unifying elements and define individual spaces, whose scale and atmosphere are reminiscent of wine cellars throughout the region of Moravia. Eames shell chairs from Vitra provide bold accents – and as examples of American mid-century modern design add a new dimension to the House of Wine.
