Vitra Showroom in Oslo
Vitra is opening a new showroom in Oslo in March 2024. Just a 15-minute tram ride from the city centre, the Skøyen district is enjoying a flourishing renaissance. It is here at Drammensveien 130 that Vitra has chosen to establish its showroom – surrounded by other premium brands, various interior design studios and remarkable architecture.
The building was constructed in 1935 as a metal factory. The tenant before Vitra was a fitness studio, some of whose furnishings were preserved in the new interior as a throwback. Elsewhere, the original industrial character was restored by carefully stripping back the rooms; only the bathroom, kitchen and server room have been extensively modernised. The open mezzanine affords a clear view of the premises while its glass block floor brings light to the space below.

The new showroom thrives on the contrast between the understated interior with its use of natural, Scandinavian materials and the highlights created by curated furniture scenes. Furthermore, elements of Vitra’s global showroom concept, such as the Colour & Material Library and the Chair Rack, have been adapted to international standards.
