Lahofer

Dobsice, Czech Republic

The structural layout of the South Moravian winery follows the spacing between the rows of grapevines and runs through the entire building. Reminiscent of the region's wine cellars, the archetypal barrel-vaulted tasting room intersects the vineyard orthogonally. The winemaking operations are concentrated in two horizontal buildings, blending in with the surrounding countryside.

In outfitting the new construction, the architects opted for furniture from Vitra. The decisive factors were the products' high quality and resulting sustainable longevity – just as wine develops its flavour as it ages, the materials used in premium-grade furniture acquire a beautiful patina over the years. To give the architecture its due prominence and presence, the Vitra products were selected in the colour black.
