PIERRE HAUBENSAK – Malerei

Exhibition to mark the artist's 90th birthday at Fotostudio Frei in Weil-Friedlingen

Pierre Haubensak is a leading contemporary Swiss painter. Born in 1935, he has developed a rich and multi-layered body of work over the course of seven decades. Influenced early on by American Colour Field and Hard Edge painting, his practice has evolved continuously, oscillating between strict compositional order and dynamic immediacy.

His series explore themes of colour, surface and space, with works held in major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Kunsthaus Zürich, the Collection of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation (Schaulager in Münchenstein) and the Musée d'art et d'histoire in Geneva.

The exhibition is accompanied by the publication PIERRE HAUBENSAK. Malerei 1961–2025, with a text by Dieter Schwarz. Published by Scheidegger & Spiess, June 2025, ISBN 978-3-03942-303-3, CHF 39/€ 38.
