Mynt Soft
Erwan Bouroullec, 2026
Mynt Soft is an inviting, compact lounge chair that offers excellent comfort. Discreetly integrated beneath the seat, the patented Mynt mechanism is activated by body weight and tilts forwards or backwards as the sitter changes position, with the seat moving independently of the backrest. The movement resistance automatically adapts to the user's weight.
The combination of Mynt Soft's cushioned padding with the dynamic movement of the seat and back delivers an experience that the sitter can only fully appreciate through use. The lounge chair is mounted on a swivel base and adjustable in height – from a low lounging setting to a position suitable for dining or work tables.
The upholstery of Mynt Soft is made from V-Foam, the world's first economically recyclable polyurethane foam developed by Vitra in collaboration with BASF. Covers can be selected in fabric or leather in a wide range of colours.
Mynt also exists as an office chair and as the Mynt High counter chair.

Information
Mynt

Mynt brings a new way of sitting to offices, public spaces and home interiors. It responds to the fact that people no longer sit in the same chair for lengthy periods of time and instead often share chairs with other users. In office settings, Mynt takes on the home-like appeal of a universal chair, while in domestic interiors, it provides the dynamism of an office chair – thus defying conventional categorisations. The core element of Mynt is its patented mechanism. Activated by body weight, it tilts forwards or backwards as the sitter changes position, with the seat moving independently of the backrest. The movement resistance automatically adapts to the user's weight – only the height of the chair requires adjustment. A study by the Institute for Biomechanics at ETH Zurich found that Mynt promotes dynamic sitting almost 50% more than conventional office chairs with a synchronised mechanism, and that movement while sitting is a key factor in healthy work habits. Mynt also exists as the Mynt High counter chair and the compact Mynt Soft lounge chair. The slender mechanism is an integral part of Mynt's design and plays a key role in the chair's understated, home-like aesthetic. The seat and backrest of Mynt and Mynt High come in a choice of natural oak or dark walnut veneer, as well as recycled polyamide from 100% post-industrial sources. These may be replaced or exchanged for a different material option at any time. In the four-star base model, glides can be replaced with castors and vice versa – the relevant office standards are fulfilled in both variants. Upholstered covers are available for the seat and backrest. The TPU foam in the seat cushion was developed by Vitra in partnership with BASF as the world's first economically recyclable polyurethane foam; the padding of the back cushion is made of polyester fibre. Thanks to zip fasteners, the two upholstery elements can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement – allowing Mynt to retain its fresh look and flexibly adapt to new needs. Mynt Soft is a compact lounge chair that combines Mynt's innovative mechanism with cushioned padding to offer exceptional comfort. Mounted on a swivel base, Mynt Soft is adjustable in height – from a low lounging setting to a comfortable position for table seating. Its fabric or leather covers can be replaced by trained service staff.
