citizenM
Boston / Los Angeles / Miami / New York City / Seattle/ Washington, D.C., USA
In 2008, the first citizenM hotel opened in Amsterdam with the concept of offering guests an ‘affordable luxury’ experience - the necessary comfort of a modern design hotel in compact but contemporary rooms, with the main focus on communal spaces for guest activities: at the canteenM bar, in the lobby, which citizenM calls a ‘Living Room’, and in the societyM work and meeting rooms. To achieve this goal, these 'public' areas had to be designed as attractively as possible.
Vitra has been a furnishing partner of citizenM since 2008 and makes a decisive contribution to the look and character of the hotels with its furniture and accessories. Now present in 18 cities across three continents, the most recent expansion has been in the USA: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington DC. The extroverted design of the interiors differs in each of these locations – but they are all outfitted with long-lasting products from Vitra's diverse portfolio.
