Information
Ronan Bouroullec about Slow Chair and Slow Sofa
From his studio in Paris, Ronan Bouroullec shares the story behind the new version of the armchair and the development of the brand new compact sofa.
Slow Chair & Slow Sofa

The design of the Slow Chair and the Slow Sofa uses the principle of a textile sling cover precisely fitted over a tubular steel frame. This creates a sink-in effect with just the right amount of tension to ensure appealing comfort, especially when supplemented with loose cushions. Due to the absence of thick padding, the compact Slow Chair and Slow Sofa offer generous space for one or two people. Thanks to their light weight, the armchair and sofa can be easily picked up and moved around and provide a favourite flexible spot to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With their distinctive aesthetic, they integrate seamlessly into modern interiors while adding a contemporary touch to classic settings. The upholstery fabric of the Slow Chair can be configured with a semi-transparent, breathable knitted textile or the soft bouclé fabric Flocca; the Slow Sofa is available exclusively in Flocca. The matching seat and neck cushions are complemented with a choice of back cushions from the Vitra Cushions collection, which are filled with recycled fibres. The covers in Flocca can be removed for cleaning or replacement. An ottoman is available to complement the Slow Chair, allowing users to put their feet up for even greater comfort.
