When it came to furnishing the integrated studio area, the museum wanted a sofa made by a Swiss manufacturer. Instead of a classic 'museum bench', they were looking for a welcoming piece of furniture that encourages active engagement with design, offers space for interaction and relaxation, and comes from a Swiss design studio. With the Anagram Sofa, developed by Vitra in collaboration with the Swiss designer duo Panter&Tourron, the museum found a solution that fulfils all of these criteria. Thanks to its modular structure, Anagram also allows the museum to respond flexibly to new formats and requirements.
The choice of a home-like sofa in a museum context prompts visitors to not just observe design, but to experience it – and perhaps even linger a little longer. An approach that, according to the museum, has been very positively received and actively embraced.
