Vorwerk
Wuppertal, Germany

When it became clear that the headquarters of the long-established family business Vorwerk was unfit for renovation, moving to a new site was the inevitable decision. After first-hand experience with Vitra's high-quality products and service in past projects, the client turned to the Swiss design furniture manufacturer to plan the new work environment. Workshops were subsequently held on the Vitra Campus with the founding family, the executive board and 120 Vorwerk employees. The future requirements were defined on the basis of internal processes and organisational structures.
The resulting 'Vorwerk NOW' concept focuses on flexible sharing of the workstations: while each team has a designated home base on a specific floor, staff are welcome to work anywhere throughout the building. The participants in the user workshops were actively involved in shaping the new working environment for their colleagues, which fostered a sense of togetherness and broad acceptance of new concept.
The spaces were planned and implemented in collaboration with Vitra's Consulting & Planning Studio (CPS). The workstations, reception area, and conference and meeting zones feature a subtle colour scheme and an inviting and warm atmosphere. They emphasise collaborative teamwork while offering a range of retreat spaces for focused work, phone and video calls, and other activities that require concentration.
