Scout

Konstantin Grcic, 2026

"Scout was created as a dynamic tool for today’s work environments – mobile, adaptable and open-ended. It doesn’t prescribe a single way of use but allows for flexible, personal setups."
Konstantin Grcic
Scout is a family of mobile and stationary work and meeting tables that can be arranged into flexible configurations to suit daily needs and dynamic use – and then stowed away to save space when no longer required.

Five tables for working and learning

Five tables for every purpose: concentrated work, learning, teamwork, private retreat, presentations, workshops, meetings and more. From compact work surfaces to desks and meeting tables. With or without castors, with mechanical height adjustment, with screens and accessories.

Grab it, use it, park it

Customise as needed
Tilt tabletop via lever
Set height manually
Park it
Exactly what you need: take a table with you, use it alone or with others, then nest the tables together and stow them away to save space.

Nothing hidden, nothing wasted

Scout is honest: everything is visible. The technology is part of the design and remains easily accessible for service and repair. Its ingeniously simple functions are intuitive to use, and every Scout table is built from sustainable materials.

Make it yours

Scout’s defining structural and design feature is its robust tubular steel frame. It not only ensures stability, but also creates a room-within-a-room effect – even without screens – and helps to signal privacy. During seated conversations around the table, it provides a welcome sense of enclosure. In addition, accessories can be quickly and easily attached for personalisation.

P10 - Vitra - DHBW Villingen Schwenningen - 001_web_3-2

DHBW Villingen-Schwenningen

The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Villingen-Schwenningen (DHBW VS) is a public university that combines academic study with practical phases in the fields of business and social work. As part of the ongoing development of the campus, two large spaces were transformed into a contemporary learning environment. The aim was to create two workshop zones within an area of around 210 m2, suitable for both traditional teaching situations and collaborative, project-based work.

A framework for daily learning and flexible work

Scout is a family of mobile and stationary work and meeting tables that showcase Konstantin Grcic’s functionalist approach and his ‘severely simple’ aesthetic. The German industrial designer uses proven materials, such as tubular steel, to create flexible yet lasting frameworks. Mobile and open-ended, the system provides a solution for today’s office environments and adapts effortlessly to any space. Design editor Jessica-Christin Hametner spoke to Konstantin Grcic about Scout, exploring what inspired the concept and why the system serves as an extension for different styles of work.
