Mikado is a chair with a serene yet commanding aura that aims to impress not only by its form but also through its comfort – whether used for dining tables, home workspaces, office environments or restaurants. The Mikado seating experience is defined by upholstery on all sides as well as the movement of the backrest.
‘Who wants to sit still forever? We are human, and we need to be able to move to concentrate. Mikado rethinks this concept, offering comfort in a dynamic, sustainable way.’
Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby

Versatility for anywhere

Mikado comes in a wide selection of fabric covers and diverse colours, as well as a choice of leg variants – enabling a wide variety of configurations that can be easily modified. Whether used for home dining tables, in restaurants or in meeting rooms, Mikado is ideally suited to any setting.

Comfort through movement

An ingeniously simple mechanism concealed beneath the seat allows for a slight reclining movement of the backrest. Combined with upholstery on all sides of the chair, this ensures exceptional comfort.

Modular components for sustainability

Mikado contains a high proportion of recycled materials. The individual components – including covers – can be easily repaired or replaced by service employees, extending the chair’s lifespan. And at the end of Mikado’s service life, all the parts can be separated for recycling or correct disposal. The covers are neither glued nor stapled and even the polyurethane foam can be easily separated from the seat cushion support and back shell.

Mikado is available as an armchair with the suggestion of armrests or as a side chair, which each offer a distinctive seating experience and yet are so similar that they can be combined without disturbing the visual harmony around a table or within a given space. The different base variations, the two backs and a choice of fabric or leather covers in numerous colours ensure a wide range of possible combinations.
