Amorepacific, 21st Floor

When Korea's largest cosmetics company moved into its new headquarters in Seoul in mid-2018 – a building designed by David Chipperfield Architects – the only issue still to be resolved was the layout and use of the very top level on the 21st floor. The company ultimately decided on a future-oriented solution consisting of a coworking space that would not merely be utilised by in-house startup teams, but would be open to all employees. The main goal was to create a lively, buzzing environment that supports and promotes collaborative culture, which in turn fosters innovation and creativity:

'We also wanted an environment drastically different from the lower level offices that would shift the paradigm of "working environments" for our employees, introducing and encouraging the new working style for the existing generation while attracting the new generation by providing the environment they desire.'

The layout and planning of the 21st floor was entrusted to the Berlin-based architectural office Kinzo. Their design in “Floor 21” relies on a mixture of raw elements and bold colors and therefore forms a contrast to the more subdued interior of the other floors. With its raw and unfinished look, the space offers freedom for creativity and the exchange of ideas and can be – just as an artist studio – a space for development and inspiration.

The coworking space was one of the first places where Soft Work was implemented. Among many other Vitra products, Amorepacific chose this new sofa system because it provides a comfortable transition to new work methods.
