Doshi Retreat
Balkrishna Doshi with Khushnu Panthaki Hoof and Sönke Hoof, 2025

The Doshi Retreat is a new architectural addition to the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein. Designed as a place of contemplation, it was created by Balkrishna Doshi in collaboration with his granddaughter Khushnu Panthaki Hoof and her husband Sönke Hoof. The retreat is Doshi’s first project to be completed outside of India – and the last design he worked on prior to his death in 2023. He was awarded the Pritzker Prize in early 2018.
The Doshi Retreat will be open to the public as of Saturday, 25 October 2025, when its official inauguration will be celebrated as part of the Vitra Campus Fall Festival. Visitors can look forward to a programme of Indian music concerts, guided tours of the Doshi Retreat and numerous other activities for all ages from 10 am to 6 pm.
As an additional highlight, architects Khushnu Panthaki Hoof and Sönke Hoof will be presenting the Doshi Retreat in person: their talk ‘Immersing, Emerging and Being – The Story of the Doshi Retreat’ will take place at 2 pm. Please register in advance, as places are limited.
The project will also be on show in the Vitra Campus Gallery.
