Laufen AG

Founded in 1892, Laufen AG develops and produces high-quality bathroom and plumbing solutions. Complementing its headquarters in Laufen, the company has opened a new location in the heart of Basel, characterised by collaboration and design.

Here, a working environment was to be created that can be adapted flexibly to changing projects and priorities. Within a limited area, it was necessary to connect structure and openness and to enable different usage scenarios such as focussed work, collaboration and retreat. Designer Konstantin Grcic, who has developed products for both Laufen and Vitra for many years, played a key role: he also contributed the design for new office for Laufen and particularly through his choice of colours scheme, had a significant impact on the overall appearance of the space.

For furnishings, Vitra was chosen, since both companies share the values of quality, sustainability and design clarity. The Scout table arrangement by Konstantin Grcic is a core part of the working environment. The system's structure and mobility allow individual desks as well as spontaneous types of collaboration. Scout Work supports focussed tasks, while mobile versions and complementary elements allow flexible project and workshop setups. The collaboration with the Vitra Consulting & Planning Studio has created a working environment that can be changed effortlessly and yet always reflects Laufen’s ways of working and corporate culture.
