Vitra Showroom in Madrid

The new Vitra Showroom for the Iberian Peninsula spans 450 m2 and is located in Madrid’s Salamanca district – the bustling commercial epicentre of the Spanish capital – in close proximity to much of the architecture and design community as well as other brands from the premium segment. It serves as company home for the local Vitra staff and also as a platform where customers and partners can experience office concepts and collaborate with the team.
The building by architect Antonio Palacios initially served as a power supply facility for Madrid’s metro, then as a garage and finally as an architectural office. The refurbishment by Vitra emphasises the edifice’s iconic architectural features: the bright open space is characterised by a steel structure with a glass roof and highlights the brickwork and other original building materials. Carefully coordinated colours and materials and a new lighting concept ensure a harmonious atmosphere.

Vitra presents new concepts for office environments in a relatively small space, with a focus on teamwork and agile methods of working. A central multi-purpose area is complemented by communal spaces as well as quiet zones for concentrated work and meetings. Informal areas such as the communal kitchen and a cafeteria encourage hybrid scenarios.
Enhanced by the Vitra Colour & Material Library and a Task Chair Lab, the Showroom highlights the diverse product solutions and concepts and makes the Vitra brand easily tangible.
