Marble

Whenever possible, the marble used by Vitra is a premium quality Carrara marble. Since marble is a natural material, every marble table top has its own unique colour and texture. Vitra treats the marble surfaces with a high-quality sealer to protect them from water, oil, grease and moisture. This sealer penetrates deep into the stone, while still allowing it to breathe. Unlike the effect of varnish sealing, the stone retains its natural appearance and particularly its colour. Even with this treatment, marble remains a relatively sensitive surface that develops a patina with use.
