ARaymond
Lörrach, Switzerland

The French family-owned company is a global leader in fastening and assembly systems. At the German headquarters in Lörrach, a decentralised organisational structure had developed over the decades, spread across several buildings. This was now to be concentrated in three new constructions, grouped to form a campus. At the same time, the aim was to create a 'New Work' environment, in which people can work flexibly and dynamically using modern methods.
Based on Vitra's extensive experience from previous projects, the client turned to them for guidance. The company's internal processes and structures were analysed in workshops with the Consulting & Planning Studio (CPS), and the resulting insights were used to determine the requirements for the new interior. In addition, a pilot office was set up on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, where ARaymond employees were able to try out the new mode of working. The CPS team obtained valuable feedback from this trial, and it enabled the participants to overcome their prejudices and doubts.
Some of the client's existing furnishings were utilised to outfit the facility and a number of used, reconditioned Vitra pieces were purchased in addition to several new Vitra products. The circular concept behind the furnishing scheme aligns with the broader sustainability framework of the project: natural, recycled and locally sourced materials and products were prioritised, and the spaces were designed to be as flexible and easily adaptable as possible.
The result is a dynamic work environment offering a wide variety of options – with meeting areas, lounges, agile meeting and workshop zones, desk-sharing facilities, training and development areas, conference rooms and a cafeteria. The silo mentality has been dismantled and the extensive range of opportunities for collaboration, retreat and concentration has met with great approval.
