ID Chair Concept

Antonio Citterio, 2010/2021

The ID Chair Concept provides companies and users with countless customisation options to create their personalised ergonomic task chair. Vitra developed the chair programme with Antonio Citterio and launched it on the market in 2010. To this day, its modularity and versatility remains unique. However, as Vitra continuously strives to introduce improvements, the ID Chair Concept has been completely revised in terms of comfort, design and environmental impact.

New backrest model

With the ID Chair, the backrest version defines the individual chair model. The variants Air, Trim, Soft and Mesh now welcome the new addition Cloud. This innovative design consists of a flexible membrane support and an elastic knit weave, which are combined to provide a novel sense of comfort. The back is entirely adjustable in height and comes in two different knit covers.

New seat upholstery

Thanks to its new PU-foam-free Formfit F seat, the ID Chair is now even more sustainable. With a cushion manufactured from 100% recyclable polyester fibres — also used in mattresses — the highly breathable seat of this task chair is the first of its kind and allows customers to create configurations of the ID Chair that are 100% recyclable.

New armrests

The 3D armrests have been redesigned. The new versions lend the ID Chairs a fresh contemporary look, and the 100% recyclable PU-foam-free pads guarantee further enhanced comfort.

New look

Powder-coated armrests and bases give the different models a new monochrome appearance. The covers Silk Mesh and Diamond Mesh are now available in a range of fresh colours. Rounding off the update are the new fabric Reflect, made of recycled polyester, and a form-fitting knit with wide stripes for the ID Soft backrest.

New visitor chairs

Vitra has expanded the range of ID Chairs with a group of new visitor chairs: ID Visitor. This latest model comes with a choice of different backrests, to match those of the other ID Chairs. Task and visitor chairs can therefore be harmoniously coordinated in an office environment.

The pleasantly soft seat options, the multi-adjustable armrests and the supportive backrests provide a high degree of comfort.

The ID Chair Concept consists of the models ID Cloud, ID Air, ID Mesh, ID Soft, ID Soft L, ID Trim and ID Trim L, each with a different backrest.
