チャールズ＆レイ・イームズによってデザインされたラウンジチェア「ラ シェーズ」は、1948年にニューヨーク近代美術館のコンペのために出品した作品の１つです。ガストン・ラシェーズの「フローティングフィギュア」という彫刻作品から影響を受け制作されています。ラシェーズは、1948年に発表されて以降、デザイン史のアイコンのひとつとなっています。
